MEET WILLIE

New Leadership Delivering Results for Our Community

Deputy Willie Brown is a husband, father, public servant, and military veteran

Deputy Brown is a 15-year veteran of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, recently retired, with distinguished law enforcement service in the Jail Division, Civil and Warrant Division, Courts, and Community Relations. Recognized as a leader and mentor, he was tasked with temporary command of the Henry County Detention Center Annex, performing the duties of that position in the absence of the commander. Furthermore, Brown proudly served in the United States Navy for over 21 years, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His distinguished and decorated service consisted of assignments literally “around the world” in over ten different countries in both wartime and peace.

A Georgia native, Deputy Brown was born in Montezuma in central Georgia. Later his family moved to Florida, where he graduated from Oak Ridge High School and received his associate degree in management from Valencia College.

Deputy Brown became interested in law enforcement during his military enlistment and graduated from the Clayton Regional Law Enforcement Academy for Basic Law Enforcement. He also completed programs at the United States Navy Personnelman Class “A” School, the Automated Drug and Alcohol Program School, and the Naval Leadership School. At the Navy Recruiting Orientation Unit School, Brown served as the class leader, helping to ensure that his entire class graduated. Deputy Brown's military commendations include the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

After retiring from the Navy, Deputy Brown earned a Bachelor of Science in public safety, a requisite degree for leaders in law enforcement, from Mercer University while working as a deputy for the Henry County Sheriff’s Department. This course of study was essential as Brown realized that he not only wished to protect and serve, he also wanted to lead in law enforcement as he had in the Navy.

Active in the community, Deputy Brown previously served as a volunteer Sheriff Reserve Deputy and on the Henry County Zoning Advisory Board. Additionally, he takes part in the restoration of homes owned by veterans. Deputy Brown has served on the boards of Luella and Bethlehem Elementary Schools’ Parent Teacher Organizations (PTO).

Deputy Brown is married to his wife of 39 years and lives in Locust Grove, Ga. They remain faithful members of Divine Faith Ministries International, where he serves as Elder and a mentor to young men.
